Events and Live Music Costa Blanca
There are plenty of concerts every night across the Costa Blanca. However, the vast majority of live music events are cover bands or tribute acts entertaining tourists and expats in the resorts. Such events can obviously be highly amusing and for instance you might want to seek out the Irish performer John The Fiddler as he tours the Costa Blanca with an energetic fiddling extravaganza in bars such as An Shebeen in Javea, Mad Hatters in Moraira etc. Among the tribute acts theres an incredible Amy Winehouse Tribute playing in Benidorm with a real Amy vibe, a new Spice Girls tribute show and a wide range of others, however most of these are better suited as background noise for drunken nights out than cultural experiences.
Finding actual original acts can be slightly more challenging, however there are venues specializing in high quality performances, upcoming original bands etc. Such venues count Hacienda on Montgo between Denia and Xabia, Penelope in Javea oldtown and bigger places such as the arena in Benidorm that sported a performance by the boss himself, Bruce Springsteen.
During early summer the Javea Folk Festival invites everyone to an annual fiesta celebrating iberian folkmusic of the highest quality. The performances at the Javea Folk Festival are general at outdoor venues in Javea oldtown – and free to attend. Amazingly, the event manages to attract some of the most interesting original spanish folk bands year after year, along with select foreign acts of particular interest. You will be doing yourself a favour by checking out the calendar for the Javea Folk Festival and checking out the acts on youtube or elsewhere, it truly is high quality.
PLACES AND SPOTS TO VISIT
Now a normal tourguide would tell you all about the bulk of amusement parks surrounding Benidorm, such as the safari land and Terra Mitica, and indeed if youre desperate to entertain the kids those places are good, albeit expensive, choices. However, truth be told, every tourist area in the world has amusement parks just like them, no better – no worse.
However, Costa Blanca does have plenty of delightful places you should consider visiting. One of the more famous ones being the village of Gaudalest. Set in stunning scenery the village is built into and on top of the mountains, maintained through hundreds of years and truly unique. Next try a trip up to the national park of Montgo and/or Cabo De La Nao, in both cases just walk around and enjoy the scenery for half an hour and you are guaranteed to feel overwhelmed by the natural beauty and spectacular views it spoils.
